Congratulations to Elizabeth “Liz” Dyer for being chosen as Volunteer of the Month! Liz completed training in May 2024, and she accepted her first case the following month. She is assigned to 16-year-old *Lisa. Lisa and her siblings came into care due to allegations of physical abuse/unspecified physical abuse. There were also allegations of domestic abuse in the home.

Liz immediately began to work on her case. She met with Lisa and contacted her DCFS caseworker. Liz talked with and invested time in getting to know Lisa, her needs, likes, and dislikes. Liz and her co-CASA assisted in facilitating sibling visits. Liz attended multiple hearings that lasted for hours. Liz was a sounding board for Lisa and was able to keep her grounded when things became uncontrollable in her life. Liz formed a solid relationship with Lisa. Liz has continued to be a powerful advocate for Lisa.

Throughout this journey, Liz remained a consistent and compassionate voice for her CASA children who may otherwise struggle to be heard. Liz, I know this case has not always been easy. We have faced difficult situations and rough patches, yet you continued to show up, persevere, and focus on the well-being of your CASA children.

Liz, your commitment goes beyond volunteering; it reflects a genuine passion for making sure vulnerable children have someone willing to stand beside them, speak up for them, and advocate for what is in their best interest. I know that sometimes the road you traveled was rough and you had bumps along the way, but you continued to keep focusing on Lisa’s needs. You did not give up when things got tough. You continued to push, and that is what being a CASA is all about!

Proud Advocate Supervisor,

Ricketta Cotton-Monroe
