Congratulations to Diane Pitts for being chosen as the volunteer of the month. Diane has been a CASA since February 2022. She accepted her first case in March 2022. Presently, Diane is the CASA for 11-year-old Sharon* and 16-year-old Sheila*. Sharon and Sheila came into care in August 2016. Their mother was PEC'd while residing at a temporary residential center, and she did not have a plan of care or caregiver for her two minor children. Additionally, there were allegations of neglect/physical abuse. Sharon was found to have injuries resulting from the actions of her mother, as witnessed and reported by shelter staff and confirmed by her older sister, Sheila.

Since becoming Sharon and Sheila’s CASA, Diane has forged a great working relationship with their foster parents and DCFS. Diane continued to keep Sharon and Sheila’s needs at the forefront and always represented their best interests. While working on Sharon and Sheila’s case, Diane interviewed all parties involved, contacted me monthly, attended numerous hearings, FTMs and submitted several court reports. Diane has an unbreakable bond with Sharon and Sheila. Diane has continued to be a strong advocate for Sharon and Sheila. She has advocated for and assisted with sibling visits so that the girls can maintain their bond. Additionally, she has supported the girls throughout their numerous placements.

Thank you, Diane, for your extreme dedication to Sharon and Sheila. For the numerous hours that you worked on the case, phone calls, and supporting sibling visits. I know that you have made a tremendous difference in Sharon and Sheila’s lives, and you have formed a relationship that will last for a lifetime.

Proud Advocate Supervisor,

Ricketta Cotton-Monroe
