Volunteer of the Month January 2026

Erin Casey completed her CASA training on July 10, 2024, and was assigned to her first case on August 2, 2024. At that time, the children, Ebony, Aaron, and Charles, came into care due to neglect/physical abuse. When Erin was assigned, she jumped right in, contacting the children and their foster parents. From the moment she accepted this case, she approached her role with a deep sense of responsibility and love for the children she was appointed to serve. Erin advocated for the children’s mother to obtain housing, which was one of the barriers to her obtaining custody of her children. On June 17, 2025, the case closed successfully, and custody of the children was returned to their mother.

Erin’s second case involved another sibling group. Danny and Gia, who came into care on July 7, 2025. Danny was 13, and Gia was 18 months old. The children came into care due to neglect by their mother, Susan, who had mental health issues.

As the CASA volunteer, Erin had a remarkable ability to connect with her CASA kids in a way that made them feel safe, heard, and valued. Through patience and compassion, she creates space for Danny to feel comfortable and share his thoughts and feelings, often expressing things he may not feel comfortable telling others. Erin listened with intention, and she carries those voices with her into every part of her advocacy. She consistently advocates for what is truly in the best interest of her CASA kids, with a strong belief in family reunification whenever it can be achieved safely.

Thanks to Erin’s steadfast advocacy and unwavering commitment to ensuring Danny’s voice was heard, a meaningful milestone was reached. On December 19, 2025, Danny was safely returned to his mother’s care. Plans were set in motion for Gia to transition home the following week. This moment reflected not only a successful reunification, but also the results of careful listening, thoughtful reporting, and advocacy rooted in both compassion and accountability. Erin’s dedication helped ensure that the court saw the full picture. One of progress, connection, and a child whose greatest wish was to return home.

Thank you, Erin, for all you do and for all that I know you will continue to do. I have enjoyed working with Erin, and I admire her dedication and strength! Thank you so very much for choosing to be a CASA volunteer, and congratulations on being chosen as the volunteer of the month!

Proud Advocate Supervisor,
