It is with great pleasure that I introduce Emmialine “Emma” Boers as the CASA Volunteer of the Month. Outside of the love of farming and actively involved in her grandchildren’s lives, Ms. Emma found the time to complete her training in May 2025 and accepted her first case just weeks later. She took on a challenging situation involving five siblings who were placed in four different homes. Ms. Emma established a professional working relationship with everyone involved in the case and connected with the caseworker to gain a clear understanding of the children’s ongoing needs. Within her first month on the case, Ms. Emma met with all the children and their caregivers. The children had entered foster care due to neglect and the lack of adequate supervision.
Ms. Emma thoroughly reviewed each child's history and advocated for their individual needs. She pushed for educational services that would support the children’s learning and for resources that would address their emotional and mental well-being. Ms. Emma is very supportive of arranging visits between siblings and their families. She traveled over four hours with the DCFS caseworker to help facilitate the placement of some children. Regardless of where the children are placed across Louisiana, Ms. Emma makes it a priority to have face-to-face contact with them. She has built strong working relationships with the caregivers, who appreciate her assistance.
Ms. Emma attends every court hearing and meeting concerning the children. She consistently writes detailed, fact-based reports for each child, emphasizing their individual needs. She genuinely has their best interests at heart and goes above and beyond to ensure their overall well-being is supported.
I am thrilled to have Ms. Emma as part of my CASA team. She is truly a team player and demonstrates no areas of concern while advocating for five beautiful souls, each with their own unique personalities and needs. She chose to take on this case independently, fully aware that the individuals were placed in different homes. I could not do this important work without her dedicated advocacy efforts. Keep pushing forward, Ms. Emma! You are the real MVP!
