Capital Area Court Appointed Special Advocates Association welcomes 21 individuals who were officially sworn in as CASA volunteers by Juvenile Court Judge Gail Grover on the evening of January 26th, 2023. Each volunteer will be appointed to advocate for the best interests of an abused child.
Huge thank you to the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge for partnering with us on a fun-filled art project for our CASA volunteers and their CASA kids. Joe Dreher, also known as JOEKINGATL, is an artist who led this workshop that allowed these children to express themselves in a very unique way. Joe is an Artist, Architect, Photographer and Poet, who grew up in the foster care system himself.

CASA’s board of directors and staff hosted the event, which recognizes volunteers for their efforts to help children living in foster care reach safe, permanent homes.

Capital Area CASA Association wrapped up its 28th Casas for CASA playhouse fundraiser Sunday, July 31st with the CASA Fiesta packed event that concluded pulling the winning raffle ticket for the Casas for CASA playhouse. Casas for CASA 2022 was presented by title sponsor Blue Cross Blue Shield Louisiana and supports CASA’s advocacy efforts on behalf of abused children in East Baton Rouge Parish.

The storm has passed, but the need for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers is more urgent than ever. CASA children have already been traumatized by abuse and neglect and now face increased anxiety because of Hurricane Ida. We understand that not everyone can become a volunteer due to the challenges of Hurricane Ida, or COVID, but if you are able to volunteer and in search of a meaningful opportunity, this could be the one for you!
Abused children in East Baton Rouge Parish are waiting for an advocate to speak up for them now. Capital Area CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Association needs community volunteers to become advocates for these children. Caring adults – especially male and African American individuals – are needed to speak up for abused and neglected children and youth living in foster care.
Capital Area Court Appointed Special Advocates Association announces the 27th annual Casas for CASA playhouse fundraiser presented by title sponsor iHeart Media. Casas for CASA generates awareness and funding to support CASA’s advocacy efforts on behalf of abused children. Platinum sponsors include East Baton Rouge Parish Library, Faulk & Meek General Contractors, Lamar Advertising, Superior Grill, Community Network and Louisiana Healthcare Connections.
Capital Area CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Association urgently needs caring adults to speak up for abused and neglected youth living in foster care.
CASA volunteers advocate for these children to help them reach safe, permanent homes. CASA volunteers do not provide legal representation, nor do they replace social workers. A CASA volunteer is an independent voice speaking solely for the best interests of the child.
