BATON ROUGE, La. –   Capital Area CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Association honored its volunteers for their advocacy work on behalf of abused and neglected children at the annual CASA Holiday Open House held December 5th at the CASA office. CASA’s board of directors and staff hosted the event, which recognizes volunteers for their efforts to help children living in foster care reach safe, permanent homes.

The event also serves as an opportunity for volunteers to select holiday gifts for their CASA children thanks to the generous support of the community. Guests enjoyed holiday favorites by the Forest Heights Magnet Academy choir, posed with holiday-themed props at a photo booth, and took home handcrafted ornaments from CASA’s Christmas tree.

CASA thanks the individuals, businesses and organizations who donated toys and gifts for CASA children. Capital Area CASA would also like to thank volunteers from National Charity League who wrapped gifts, greeted guests and staffed the kitchen throughout the evening.

CASA always needs volunteers in order to continue serving every child in East Baton Rouge Parish who needs a voice. CASA is now accepting people into its next volunteer training course, which begins Jan. 9, 2018. No special background is required. Attend one of CASA’s weekly informational sessions to learn more. Call 225-379-8598, visit casabr.org or email volunteer@casabr.org for dates and details.
